ABOUT SURVIVING FREEDOM

Q: Why Teenagers?

A: They get the least help.

Younger kids might not fully understand what's happening while adults have already made their choices.
But teenagers? They're right in the middle.
Old enough to feel the weight of it all, young enough that the right support can completely shift their trajectory.

The future feels further away to the un-helped

Teenagers affected by the absence of thier parents are typical bounced between relatives, placed in foster care, or left to figure things out on their own.
School gets harder.
And too often, they end up following the same path.

Creating better paths lead to better cycles

Surviving Freedom gives teenagers the resources, support, and opportunities they need during the years that matter most while on thier journey.

Better environments

Better education

Better opportunities

Better access to community & support

THE KEY TO FREEING THEM FROM THE CYCLE IS COMMUNITY

Meet our founder

The personal journey of Tiffany Gibson through the criminal justice system became the driving force behind the creation of Surviving Freedom, Inc.

Navigating the hardships of incarceration and reentry provided her with a firsthand understanding of the overwhelming barriers individuals and their families face when trying to rebuild their lives after prison.
Determined to break those barriers, Tiffany dedicated herself to healing, growth, and education, eventually earning a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.
She utilized her lived experience not as a limitation, but as a catalyst for transformation. Today, she advocates for second chances, restorative justice, and the firm belief that no one should be defined by their past.
Having been separated from her children during the most critical years of their lives, Tiffany carries a deep mission to build a support system for families torn apart by incarceration. Surviving Freedom, Inc. was born from that vision, to empower justice-impacted youth and parents, promote successful reentry, and break generational cycles through advocacy, rehabilitation, and community care.
